BIG RIVER BROADBAND OPENS ANOTHER TOWER IN WASHINGTON COUNTY

FARMINGTON, MISSOURI – Furthering its mission to deliver affordable high-speed Internet service to underserved areas of Southeast Missouri, Big River Broadband will officially launch its second tower in Washington County on Monday, May 5th. The tower is located on Juliette Road, about 8 miles north of Potosi and approximately 4 miles from the company’s first tower. The second tower will deliver high-speed Internet service to Old Mines to complement existing coverage in Potosi, Cadet and MineralPoint.

For the convenience of visitors, the Big River Bus will park in the Save-A-Lot parking lot located at Highway 21 and East High Street in Potosi Monday through Saturday, beginning May 5th. Customer Experience Representatives will be on hand to demonstrate the service and answer questions. Members of the community who would like to learn more about Big River Broadband and sign up for high-speed Internet service can visit the bus between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. May 5, 7, 9, 12, 14, 16; from Noon – 7 p.m. May 6, 8, 13, 15; and from noon to 5 p.m. on May 10. Construction of the tower created excitement in the community, not only due to the availability of affordable high-speed Internet service to the community, but the construction itself required the use of a helicopter to build the 20-foot tower. Cranes were too heavy to bring in the multiple pieces, each standing about 20 feet high and weighing close to 4,000 pounds.

Big River is committed to building 58 towers in 7 counties of Southeast Missouri; this is the 38th tower. In addition to Washington County, the intended service areas include parts of Cape Girardeau, St. Francois, Bollinger, Madison, Ste. Genevieve, and Perry counties.

The tower is located off highway B and highway BB in Millersville. In addition to providing high-speed Internet to Millersville, the new tower will also provide service to parts of Friedheim, Burfordsville and Oakridge.

The Big River Bus will be open for two weeks in the parking lot of the Millersville First Baptist Church located at 531 Market Street. Big River Customer Experience Representatives will be on hand to demonstrate the service and answer questions. Members of the community who would like to learn more about Big River Broadband and sign up for high-speed Internet service can visit the bus between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. April 14, 16, 21, 23, 25 and from noon to 7 p.m. April 15, 17, 22 and 24.
