Big River Communications is a full-service telecommunications provider that has been in business for over 30 years. Our offerings include affordable, high-speed Internet service, local and long-distance telephone service, customized network solutions and Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) across the United States and Internationally. Because we own and operate our national state-of-the-art network, our customers have the clearest possible connections delivered via the most advanced technology available. As our company and products have grown, our mission to deliver affordable communications services with superior customer service has not wavered.

Big River began in 1984 as LDD, Inc., primarily a long-distance provider until the Telecommunications Act of 1996 opened the market to compete for local telephone service. In 2001 a group of independent investors purchased LDD, changing the name to Big River Telephone Company, LLC.

In 2004 Big River established a national VoIP switching network that allowed the growing company to offer affordable high-speed Internet service as well as enhanced phone features to residential and business customers. The Big River network has proven to be so reliable and advanced that we now offer wholesale service to cable providers, utility providers, and other companies here and overseas that utilize the Big River network to enhance their end customers services.

Furthering its mission to provide communications services to customers, Big River applied for and received federal funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment ACT 2009. Big River Broadband was created as a sister company to Big River Telephone with the goal of eliminating the digital divide and delivering affordable high-speed Internet service to schools, healthcare providers and the economically disadvantaged.

Through it all we have remained focused on providing extraordinary customer service. Our customers are our neighbors; we live and work in many of the communities we serve. We understand “one size fits all” product solutions do not work for everyone, which is why Big River focuses on providing customized solutions to meet your individual telecommunication needs. As a result, Big River has grown to be one of the largest locally-owned carriers in the Midwest.
